North Judson-San Pierre Middle School DC Bound!

Close the history books!  It's time to get out and discover more about the people, places, and events that have shaped our lives.  We're heading to Washington, DC.

Forty-Seven students and six chaperones will depart from NJ-SP Middle School parking at 6:30 PM this evening.  We will arrive in Gettysburg Wednesday morning at 6:30 for breakfast.  After breakfast we will tour the battlefield and then head to Washington, DC for a full day of touring.  Places we will visit in DC on Wednesday include Washington Monument, Lincoln Memorial, Vietnam Memorial, Korean Memorial, WWII Memorial, FDR Memorial, and Jefferson Memorial.

How will our students feel after 12 hours on a bus and a full day of touring?  How will our students look after 12 hours on a bus and a full day of touring?  What will be our favorite parts of the Day 1?  Check out our Blog on Thursday to find out.  We hope to have pictures and entries for your entertainment and information.

  15. i have an impromptu science experiment you can do while in D.C. This will also be relevant since this will be the experiment that we will do when you return to school. Somebody could go to the top of the Washington Monument and drop two items at the same time and see which item hits the ground first(suggested items- your history assignment and your language arts assignment).I am sorry i said that Mr. Lee and Mrs.Hershman.

I am looking forward to reading more about your trip tomorrow.. Forget about resting because I know I would just be too excited to sleep. I miss some of you here. See you when you return.

  19. Good news! We survived a day at school without all of you, but you were, of course, missed. Instead of that science experiment--which might be a security risk--why not do a Random Act of Kindness instead? Your school counselor would be proud, and it would again demonstrate that NJSP Middle School is SIMPLY THE BEST!

    Enjoy! Mrs. Matzat

  40. Here we are back at school on Monday. What a trip! We experienced so many things that I know I would have never done without this trip. I have been around a while compared to the students I traveled with and I learned a lot that I didn't know before. It is really hard for me to pick a favorite site or event from the trip. Arlington Cemetery does stand out quite a bit in my mind. It was really neat to be right there in the middle of so much of our country's history. I really had a great time and the kids did a good job representing our school. My group, the DC Dazzlers, were pretty special and can check in with me any time. They were a little sad when we grouped together for the last time before leaving DC. I will say there is one experience that is not a good thing for me. Sleeping on a bus seems to be impossible for me. It is good to be back, caught up with family (especially Axel) and share all of our great experiences with everyone. Thanks to Mrs. Zupin for this memorable life experience. K. Medesi

  41. Hey you guys. This is hayley proctor. & washington d.c was amazingly awesome!. Even with my messed up knee. To the future trips enjoy it while you can! because it definitely went by fast for us, BUT REMEMBER, you may not want to eat in another food court for the REST OF YOUR LIFE. When you do get the chance to go to washington d.c make sure you check out the arlington cemetery and Mount Vernon. You will be very very, impressed and you will love it for life! Just like me. oh and McKenzie Sallee and Jordann Frasure are sitting here with me in CAPS class and we are enjoying all the comments. So send in more for us to read! & yes, all three of us went there.

  43. I agree with Hayley Proctor the trip was amazing. I thought that it was worth the money. We seen so many things in such a short time. The trip went by so fast and I want to go back. If I could go back I would want to go see Mt. Vernon, Arlington Cemetary, The National Mall, and the Lincoln Monument again. We learned a lot and had a lot fun, but we all got tired of food court food after a while. If you ever get a chance to go make sure you go and try to see as much as you can.
